Requirements/Qualifications:
To perform the position of a Case Aide successfully, qualified candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written, presentation and conflict management skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Abilities to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and exhibit a high level of cultural competence; to include refugees or other minority families
Bilingual in Dari/English; Pashto/English; Farsi/English
Ability to handle crisis intervention, conflict, confrontation or other complex people situations with compassion and decisiveness
Experience working with traumatized/exploited families with behavioral problems
Aptitude to work cross functionally with FSR personnel and Social Services Agencies to deliver the highest quality of work under extreme pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently in the field and exercise a high level of confidentiality
Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct initial intake assessment of refugee family upon request to include identifying potential sponsorship or mentor family
Collaborate with the board to approve or deny applicants; advise on other complex application issues
Initiate and maintains direct contact with each family
Guide, direct and assist clients with completion of applications for social services (food stamp, TANF, disability.)
Assist with school enrollment application for families
Provide resources and help clients in regards to searching and obtaining employment
Ensure family’s immediate basic needs are met, organize transportation services as needed
Refer clients to Fresh Start programs as appropriate
Participate in weekly individual and group meetings with the director of case management and/or board.
Comply with Fresh Start standards regarding case file maintenance
Ensure timely and accurate collection of data relative to client cases
Regularly identify and maintain relationships with new employment, housing, medical, and other community resources
Other General Duties
Assist with fundraising events.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training.
Inform supervisor of client and facility needs and concerns.
Work closely with management to avert or resolve problems related to both the clients and the facility.
Other Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license & good driving record
